Top Rated: Cardiff Courses

Want to tee it up near the wonderful Welsh capital? You’ve come to the right place! In our latest blog we look at Cardiff golf courses. The five courses below represent 5 very different challenges, each adored by YOU the GOLFNOW golfer.   The 1st of March marks St.David’s Day, although not a public holiday, the Welsh mark the patron Saint with parades, festivals, concerts and of course some traditional Welsh cooking! This weekend, you’ll find daffodils – the national emblem of this Celtic land – aplenty. As the Daffodils begin to bloom, the days begin to stretch and our golf begins to get all the more regular! The new season is upon us. Are you ready?

Southerndown Golf Club

Take a trip to Southerndown and tee it up along one of the finest Championship courses not only in the Cardiff area but in Wales as a whole! How would you describe the course? A 1977 edition of the AA’s Book of Golf Courses tells you all you need to know, ‘A unique course – near to sea – entrancing views’. Short but oh so sweet, well played AA! They really could not have summed this one up any better. It’s a stunning links-style test which over the years has had some of the finest names in golf course design (Colt, Fowler, Park) work upon. Treat yourself, go play!

The Vale Resort – Lake Course

A 650 acre private estate located in the picturesque South Wales countryside. The Vale Resort provides much more than two superb Championship Golf courses. Luxury hotel, conference facilities, weddings, spa and world class sports facilities. Over the years some of the biggest names in world sport have rocked up here; the British and Irish Lions, England’s world cup winning cricketers, AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid and many more! Now to the courses. We’re focusing on the Lakes course, as it is held in such high regard to staff at the Vale. Why? Well before all the fabulous facilities mentioned previously, the Lakes Course came first! It’s a magnificent test! Scared of the wet stuff? This one may not be for you as water is in play on no fewer than 12 of the 18! Bring those armbands!!

Wenvoe Castle Golf Course

In the heart of the Glamorgan, you’ll find a fantastic parkland course in Wenvoe Castle. Tee it up once along this James Braid design and we’re sure you’ll revisit time and time again. Many argue Wenvoe Castle provides one of the finest golfing challenges in the country – and many have won! We’re not going to get caught up in any debate! A fascinating test just 7miles outside of city centre Cardiff. You’ll fall in love with the 10th, drive it toward the lake to set up a clear shot to a well defended green.

Llantrisant and Pontyclun Golf Club

Measuring up at 5,300 yards, Llantrisant & Pontyclun Golf Club is a super parkland track and our golfers LOVE it! Take a stroll through the mature tree-lined fairways and challenge your game on what is quite simply a beautiful course. The par 4 10th plays as the hardest hole on the course, this dogleg right will need an impressive drive to provide any hope of scoring. Don’t let it ruin your card – as it did the ours!

Cardiff Golf Club

How could we develop a mini guide on Cardiff golf courses and not include Cardiff Golf Club? Thankfully, this tricky Welsh course isn’t making our guide just because of the name. No Cardiff GC has rightfully earned it’s place, why? Because golfers love it and the Top 100 magazine listed this fantastic course within the Top 20 in Wales. The superb set of staff ensure the course is kept in magnificent condition year round and we can vouch for that! Browse tee times below and remember, find the flame and save with Hot Deals!
