Astbury Hall… Open for business!

Situated in the middle of England and easily accessible from most places in the country, Shropshire is a great county for golf, offering golfers more than 30 fantastic courses to choose from. One in particular that stands out and has an interesting recent story is Astbury Hall Golf Club.

Tucked away in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, Astbury Hall  has 300 acres of rolling countryside, a stunning country hall and one of England’s finest championship golf courses.

The course presents golfers with challenges of strategically placed bunkering and beautifully manicured playing surfaces. The golf course also features greens built to USGA specifications, undulating in design and layout to provide a fair test for all golfers. Throughout the course you will be faced with many challenging shots – none more so than the 18th hole. When the drinks are on the line, can you keep your score in check when playing the spectacular par-3 closing hole, which stretches 200 yards from the black tees?

Previously owned by legendary ex-Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing, Astbury Hall was put into administration for £10 million. The guitarist originally bought the estate in Bridgnorth in 1985. Having spent money developing the top-of-the-range 18-hole course, his ambition was to someday host The Open Championship.

Unfortunately this wasn’t to be, and the venue has been closed for over six months. When the news first came out that the venue had been put into administration, there were originally 50 interested parties, which shows the popularity of the course. Over the next few months, this process had been whittled down and brighter times are ahead with the club now open!

Golfers have been chomping at the bit to get another round of golf here, not knowing if it would ever open again and offer the rewarding play that they were accustomed to. Now open again, the reviews of the course are outstanding, and the club is certainly one of the most popular course on Teeofftimes! The course is looking forward to exciting times ahead and getting loyal golfers back on the course they love!
