Castlerock provides some of NI’s greatest links golf
Castlerock Golf Club offers classic links golf amid towering sand dunes on Northern Ireland’s spectacular Causeway Coast. The North Coast of Ireland is famous for its links golf – Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Ballyliffin, Portsalon to name but a few – and Castlerock easily matches these prestigious courses for challenge, complexity and sheer beauty.

Situated on the Causeway Coast, Castlerock Golf Club not only boasts stunning views (Mussenden Temple, Downhill beach, Lough Foyle and the hills of Donegal), but proves a great test of traditional links golf. The club formed back in 1901 and vaunts two courses onsite.
Firstly, the Mussenden Course, an 18-hole championship layout which is rated among the top five courses in Ireland. It was originally designed by legendary club-maker Ben Sayers and course architect Harry Colt.
Over the winter of 2017 a redesign was undertaken by Dr Martin Hawtree, who has worked on world-famous clubs like Muirfield and St Andrew’s. Six holes were renovated and enhanced, and it is no exaggeration to say these improvements will help cement Mussenden’s reputation as one of Ireland’s finest links courses. It has been a very exciting time at the club.

Castlerock’s 9-hole Bann Course is situated on the banks of the River Bann. Don’t let the shorter layout fool you, it is every bit as much a test of links golf as its partner, Mussenden. The Bann Course boasts some stunning holes and scenic vistas across the river and out to Donegal.
